ONE OF THE major celebrity news stories of the week was Will Smith admitting that he cried uncontrollably once he got married and realised that he had wed the wrong woman. 

The 50-year-old said that he knew all along that his current wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, was the woman he was actually supposed to be with. To make matters worse, Will felt trapped with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino because he was terrified of getting divorced. Luckily for him, Sheree showed up with some divorce papers on Valentine’s Day 1995. He got on the phone to Jada almost immediately afterwards:

I said “Hey Jada, what’s up? It’s Will.” She said, “Hey, how you doing?” I said, “Good, are you seeing anybody?” She said, “Uh… No.” and I said, “Cool, you’re seeing me now.” 

All’s well that ends well.

Will’s discussion brought the topic of getting pied at the altar into a couple of daytime TV panel debates, and a lot more people seem to be okay with the idea of it than you’d expect. Nadia Sawalha told the Loose Women panel that she met some poor chap on holidays who was having some serious regrets on his honeymoon. 

He was sat by the pool sobbing. Properly, properly crying. I sat down and had a long chat with him and basically, he was on his honeymoon and he realised that he didn’t love his wife. Oh my God, it was so heartbreaking, I felt so sorry for him. Obviously he knew things weren’t right before, but he pushed through and got caught up in the party atmosphere and everything and went through with the wedding and then the realisation hit him while he was away. 

Stacey Solomon admitted that she’s too much of a people pleaser to jilt another person, but when Carol McGiffin suggested that it might be kinder and easier to put on your trainers and make a run for it, Stacey began to reconsider. 

We all know what happened to Mark in Peep Show when he couldn’t make his mind up about whether or not he should get married.
